How Much Does Commercial Cleaning Really Cost?
Thinking about hiring a cleaning service for your business? Whether your cleaning needs include a small office, a retail store, or a large warehouse, knowing about how much you're likely to spend can really help you out as you compare bids from various companies.
We surveyed thousands of BuyerZone users to find out what they paid for commercial cleaning services. Here's a look at how much you can really expect to pay based on what they reported:
BuyerZone users average cost:
$37
per visit for facilities under 5,000 square feet
$83
per visit for facilities over 5,000 square feet
Here's a more detailed breakdown of the number of visits and costs based on the size of the facility being cleaned:
Visits per week | Monthly cost | Cost per visit | |
less than 2,500 sq ft | 1.4 | $192 | $34.29 |
2,500 - 5,000 sq ft | 1.8 | $292 | $40.56 |
5,000 - 10,000 sq ft | 2.3 | $483 | $52.50 |
more than 10,000 sq ft | 3.1 | $1,276 | $102.90 |
You can see there's a pretty clear trend in both number of cleaning visits per week and the total costs: the larger the space being cleaned, the more cleaning it needs and the more the total cost. And for many small businesses that haven't used a cleaning service before, the relative affordability can comes as a surprise.
It's important to keep in mind that these costs are just averages. Your costs could be higher or lower, depending your circumstances. For the smallest offices - under 2,500 square feet - we saw per visit costs ranging from $20 to $70; and for the largest we saw $37 to $140.
Factors that will influence your total costs include the number of bathrooms and kitchens you need cleaned, how many visits per week you need, and whether or not the cleaners have to provide paper goods and cleaning materials.
Most of the prices in our survey are for basic cleaning services like emptying trash, dusting, vacuuming, and may include basic bathroom cleaning. They generally don't include extras like window cleaning or heavy-duty carpet cleaning and stain removal.
